many parts of södermalm have kept a functioning urban milieu . from fin de siecle (1900) . small streets, little traffic, shops , cafees , bistros , restaurants, second hand .
just two examples for places to go : TWANG on katharina bangatan 21 . its a hang-out place for the yyoung, little bit boheme , little bit wasted away interieur, life-music sometimes . beerprices 53,- for a big one . books, magazines . good music from the speakers I guess.
take bus 2 to medborgarplatsen , then walk up götgatan towards skanstull . after 500m katharina bangatan goes towards tte left in a 45 degrees angle ( it was a former train-track ) . fotos from TWANG later .
a complete interesting contradiction lies on östgötagatan . ( coming from medborgarplatsen you turn left into folkungagatan, then take the first to the right . ) ÖSTGÖTAKÄLLAREN lies on the left after 50 meters , after schweijk . schweijk is tchek but the beerprices do not correspond well to the poor interior . happily more impressive is the neighboor ÖSTGÖTAKÄLLAREN with its opettere-like interior, with aballustrade , furnitures from the end of 1800, crystal chandeliers and all the crap that the upper middle-class at that time liked. its just marvellous . if you feel like conquering this place with all the white-haired couples there , being a gang of youngsters or old hipsters , yet polite and open , it would really be something . gonna go there with my 70 years old friend lars from södertäle on the next weekend . fotos gonna be following later .
