berlin is neather suitable for buscruising or for walking. busses are in traffic-jam (like the 100 and 200 which could otherwise be good lines to transfer the city and see the most important Points) and concieving the city by walking is not possible because of the wide-spread areas. but the quarters are like sub-cities and I need to find out more. anyway it Always pays out to buy a one-day-ticket , COSTs 6,70 euro, 4,70 reduced. single ticket costs 2,70 and you cannot change direction on it.
from gedächtniskirche (u-bahn Kurfürstendamm) i took bus 100 towards alexanderplatz. it was going sop and go all the way. passing siegessäule, brandenburger tor, river Spree, reichstag/bundestag. took one hour . alexanderplatz is a depressive place. i did not know at that time that just 5 minutes around the corner there is the nice Nicolai-viertel. so i took the tram M4 / M6 to hackescher markt . (last stop)
nice market area around the S-bahn-station. and near an old shopping area called hackesche höfe. then took the S-bahn (S1?) towards zoologischer garten , near Kurfürstendamm .
